Objectives By the end of this session you will be able to: • Differentiate between the different types of oral hypoglycaemics available and their mechanisms of action • Indicate when to use different oral hypoglycaemics (OHGs) and their contra-indications • Recall the NICE guidance relating to use of OHGs • Be able to describe what to advise patients during intercurrent illness • List the common issues surrounding polypharmacy in people with diabetes and describe strategies to simplify medication regimes and enhance concordance
