Adolescents refer to young people (10-19yrs), it is a transition stage from childhood to adulthood.
ASRHR-Rights of young people (10-19yrs) to access accurate information, quality serves & freedom to make informed decision about their SR lives without discrimination, courcison, or violence.
Rights- To information & education
- To access SRHS
- To privacy & confidentiality
- To protection form sexual violence, exploitation early/child marriage, harmful cultural practices.
- To make decision about their body( consent, confidentiality
- To non discrimination, including in low, policy and practice.
Challenges
- Access vs reality- many adolescents do not have practical access to information SRH services
- Stigma, social norms, taleos,
- Early/child marriage & teenage pregnancy
- Unsafe abortions
- Quality of services
- Even where adolescent –friendly services exist, they may not be fully functional
- Legal/policy gaps & weak enforcement
- Menstrual health
- Lack of adequate menstrual health resources.
