Sepsis is a life-threatening condition typically triggered by bacterial infections. It occurs when the body’s immune system has an extreme response to the infection leading to organ dysfunction. It can progress to shock, multiple organ failure and sometimes death, especially if not recognized early and treated promptly.[1]
