Weekly National Maternal and Perinatal Deaths Surveillance and Response

The group convened weekly to review and discuss targeted interventions addressing the leading causes of maternal and perinatal mortality. These sessions served as a platform for sharing best practices in the implementation of Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response (MPDSR) and provided technical guidance on emerging issues in safe motherhood. Key areas of focus included quality improvement interventions such as MPDSR, Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (CEmONC), and Postnatal Care (PNC). The group critically reviewed updates on actions proposed during the review of maternal deaths reported from lower-level health facilities.
