About this activity

Medical Management of Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding Upper gastrointestinal bleeding is a potentially life-threatening emergency that requires prompt assessment and intervention. It commonly arises from peptic ulcer disease, gastritis, variceal hemorrhage, or malignancy. This CME session will focus on the medical stabilization and management of UGIB, including: Initial resuscitation: airway protection, fluid resuscitation, and blood transfusion strategies Risk stratification: clinical and laboratory predictors of severity Pharmacologic therapy: use of proton pump inhibitors, vasoactive agents in variceal bleeding, and adjunctive medications Timing and preparation for endoscopy Prevention of rebleeding and complications Timely recognition and evidence-based management significantly reduce morbidity and mortality. Participants will review current guidelines and practical approaches to optimize care for patients presenting with UGIB.
